Description
Join my private tours to uncover the beauty of lesser-known sites in the Scottish Highlands. We embark on an breathtaking route through the serenity of Glen Lyon unveiling hidden gems not typically explored by tourists. With me as your dedicated guide, you'll experience the captivating tales that define the Scottish Highlands. Our adventure begins in Queensferry, where you'll witness the awe-inspiring Forth Bridge. This Victorian engineering masterpiece truly represents Scotland's remarkable industrial heritage. We then journey to Stirling, where Stirling Castle stands witness to Scotland's history. Hear tales of sieges and battles fought during the Wars of Independence. Next, we stand on the Old Stirling Bridge, site of William Wallace's victory and imagine the clash of swords and the significance of momentous Scottish victory. Finally, visit the Church of the Holy Rude, where James VI was crowned king, a step closer towards Scotland's eventual fate of union with England. After exploring Stirling, we indulge in a traditional meat pie or sandwich for lunch at the award-winning bakery Mhor Bread (cost not included). We continue our journey to the Falls of Dochart, taking a moment to soak in the beauty of the scene. Nearby, a traditional pub provides a perfect setting to relax for a moment. We continue our journey along remote roads, ascending through the rugged Lawers Range, keeping an eye out for red deer roaming across the wild heather-clad moorlands. Our journey leads us to the breathtaking Glen Lyon, praised by Sir Walter Scott as Scotland's 'longest, loveliest, and loneliest glen.' Here, we uncover remnants of Neolithic civilization including stone circles and the ancient remains of the Fortingall Yew in a local churchyard, believed to be Britain's oldest tree. We also pause at a serene waterfall and take a leisurely stroll through ancient birch woods for panoramic vistas to Glen Lyon. As our highland journey concludes, we make our way back to Edinburgh, via the beautiful valleys of the 'Sma Glen and Glen Quaich,'. Experience the true essence of Scotland with a bespoke private tour. Discover hidden gems and breathtaking landscapes in one of Scotland's most secluded and beautiful glens.Includes
